Ep. 184 Cheers to 40 Years! Advice I’d Give to My 20 Year Old Self

July 24, 2022 by HustleinFaith Leave a Comment

Last week was my birthday! I turned 40 this year, so needless to say…I took a trip down memory lane-LOL

As someone who loves to plan, my life turned out very different than the one I initially had planned. I thank God every day He ignored my plan. He knew me better than I knew myself.

As I celebrated my birthday, I couldn’t help but thank God He ignored my requests. There’s nothing wrong with the aforementioned life but it just wasn’t me. I would have missed out on the fabulous life I’m currently living now.

I came across this conversation that someone captured on Twitter and shared on Facebook.

So disrespectful! Ancestors?! Really?! 😂 I started thinking, “I can’t wait until this kid grows up, he’s going to learn XYZ…” His comment got me thinking, “What advice would I give to my 20-year-old self?”

This is going to be a two-part series. This week I’m going to share the advice I’d give my 20-year-old self about life and next week I’m going to share business advice.

Scriptures, videos, articles, etc. mentioned throughout this episode:

  • National Museum of African American History and Culture
  • Washington, DC: African American History Tour
  • Jer 29:11
  • Matt 25:14-30
  • Defying Expectations – How to Embrace Being a Single Woman
  • Part 1-What will your dash look like?
  • Part 2- What will your dash look like?
